Pituitary adrenocorticotropic activity in altered thyroid function.
نویسنده
چکیده
Alteration in thyroid state influenced the rate of metabolism of adrenocortical hormone by rats liver tissue in vitro, with proportional change in adrenal weight(Yates, 1958). These experiments suggest that the thyroid function would determine the rate of ACTH secretion in unstressed animals. The present study was undertaken to explore the possibility of difference in pituitary-adrenocortical secretion under various stimuli among rats in altered thyroid function.

Improved response of growth hormone to growth hormone-releasing hormone and reversible chronic thyroiditis after hydrocortisone replacement in isolated adrenocorticotropic hormone deficiency.
We report a 44-year-old Japanese man who showed a reversible blunted response of growth hormone (GH) to GH-releasing hormone (GRH) stimulation test and reversible chronic thyroiditis accompanied by isolated ACTH deficiency. He was admitted to our hospital because of severe general malaise, hypotension, and hypoglycemia. He showed repeated attacks of hypoglycemia, and his serum sodium level grad...

A case of isolated ACTH deficiency accompanying transient primary hypothyroidism was reported along with a review of literature on isolated ACTH deficiency in Japan with special reference to its association with thyroid function. Our case, a 56-year-old woman, developed somnolence and hypoglycemia due to isolated ACTH deficiency. She also had the features of hypothyroidism, namely mounding phen...
متن کاملIsolated Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (acth) Deficiency Associated with Hashimoto's Disease
Isolated ACTH deficiency (IAD) is a rare disease which is characterized by secondary adrenal insufficiency with low cortisol production and normal secretion of pituitary hormones other than ACTH. Isolated ACTH deficiency has rare association with Hashimoto’s disease which is characterized by autoimmune origin. This suggests the possibility of common autoimmune process affecting both the pituita...
متن کاملNeuroendocrinology of amphibian metamorphosis.
The timing of metamorphosis is a central amphibian life history trait and is controlled by the interplay of developmental progression, body size and condition, and environmental signals. These different processes and signals are integrated by the neuroendocrine system to regulate production of hormones by the thyroid gland. Thyroid hormone (TH) is the primary morphogen controlling metamorphosis...
